Russia Observer

RUSSIAN FEDERATION SITREP 21 NOVEMBER 2019   Patrick Armstrong Nov. 21, 2019     RUSSIA INC. The Russian economist Mikhail Dmitriev says “the Russian economy does not give a damn about the world recession [which he sees coming soon].” And he’s right – the Russian economy is the most self-reliant large economy in the world: very little external debt, few imports and a big nest egg of foreign currency and gold. Very self-sufficient (but no French cheese – remember that nonsense?) Ironic, isn’t it? the West’s war against Russia has strengthened it. HE’S EVERYWHERE! Putin has the UK election covered they shriek: the Labour leader is a “useful idiot“, soft on Russia, a “Putin stooge“; and the Conservative leader hobnobs with ex-KGB agents and suppresses reports on the Russian interference. We’re watching the brain death of Western democracy. NATO. Speaking of brain death, Macron conjured up another kerfuffle in an interview. Europe, said he, can no longer count on Washington and has to stand up on its own. Second time he’s said things that should not be said. So far it’s only talk but a test of his sincerity is coming on 9 December when he hosts a Ukraine meeting to which he has invited Putin, Zelensky and Merkel. The Kremlin spokesman had no opinion about NATO’s health: “We are not forensic pathologists“. BUTINA. Finally released and back in Russia....

Bill Bonner : Speeding to…

Hell-for-Leather Towards Bankruptcy   Maria Bonaventura Nov. 24, 2019   America is on the slow road to financial calamity… and that road ends in Hell. This week, Bill explored the easy-money policies and Deep State battles that will take us there. But it’s not all doom and gloom – especially for gold bugs… Gold doesn’t just protect your portfolio from the feds’ phony-money experiments. As you’ll see in Saturday’s edition – “Boost Your Gold Gains in the 2020 Bull Market” – it can also help you make a nice profit as we head into 2020… Regards, Maria Bonaventura Managing Editor, Bill Bonner’s Diary   Down the Lost Highway to Bankruptcy The U.S. is lost down the highway to bankruptcy. And steering this “old jalopy” straight to Hell is none other than Donald J. Trump, the self-proclaimed Swamp-drainer… How Executive Order 6102 Doomed America With Bill flying back to America across the Atlantic, we share a classic story every Diary reader should know. Bill explains how America climbed into the debt-mobile in the first place… Our Rude Return to America It feels good to have the “greatest economy ever” – at least if you believe our POTUS’ tales of American glory. But as Bill sets foot on the motherland again, he has a slightly different take on the state of our economy… Take It Easy… Rome Wasn’t Destroyed in a...

Bill Bonner, the rich and the Devil

The Rich Are Cavorting With the Devil   Maria Bonaventura Nov. 17, 2019   Everyone loves a good scapegoat. Whether it’s the trade war… or the filthy rich who – some would argue – made their wealth by ripping off the moms and pops… you can always find someone to blame when things go wrong. With that in mind this week, our editor looks past the headline news about the trade war… Trump’s confused statistics about economic growth in America… and Warren’s doomed promises to give the rich what they’ve got coming… Regards, Maria Bonaventura Managing Editor, Bill Bonner’s Diary   A Lesson From East Berlin’s Big, Bold, Dumb Experiment On Monday, Bill turns to the ultimate test of capitalism vs. communism: Cold War-era Germany. Those were the good old days, when East Berliners didn’t have to bother with the burden of dependable cars… food variety… and reasonable incomes… How Will POTUS Move the Markets Today? As Bill pens Tuesday’s Diary, Trump is preparing to give an important speech. No doubt, our editor muses, someone will know ahead of time what POTUS will say… and cash in on it. Which forces our editor to ask the question: How can anyone take the headline news seriously? Trump’s Superb Satire Schtick Despite much anticipation, The Donald’s address in New York was a disappointment. Instead of tooting his own horn about the trade war...

Megaleilão do Pré-sal
